TAP Master Teachers
Jamillah Simpson
Hello my name is Jamillah Simpson, this is my 10th year in education and I am one of the Master Teachers for the 2014-2015 school year. I was born and raised in Greensboro, NC where I graduated from Western Guilford High School in 1999. I went to Fayetteville State University where I played college basketball for 4 years and graduated with a degree in History in 2003. After graduating I began teaching kindergarten in Fayetteville, NC for two years. That’s when I realized my passion for teaching and helping others, so I went back to school and earned my certification in Elementary Education. After receiving my certification I moved to Winston Salem, NC and taught first grade for five years. I received my Master’s Degree in Reading Education from Appalachian State University in 2011. I moved to Raleigh and taught second grade for one year, then I looped (became their 3rd grade teacher) with my students for about a month before I got promoted to Master Teacher. I was one of the Master Teachers for the 2013-2014 school year where I worked with 4th and 5th grade teachers. This year I have been privileged to be in this position again working with 1st and 2nd grade teachers. I love working with students and working with teachers. I have a passion and the patience for helping others. Every day I want everything that I say and everything that I do to be “intentional” for the purpose of growing our students and growing our teachers.

Kristie Curry
Hello! My name is Kristie Curry and I am one of the Master Teachers at Wilburn for the 2014-2015 school year. I have been teaching for 12 years , with most of my experience being in grades 3-5.
I earned my Bachelor’s degree from Shippensburg University in Pennsylvania in 2002. After that I entered the teaching world for several years then earned my Masters degree in Teaching Literacy from Touro College in New York City.
I enjoy being in education because I truly love working with students. Some days I think that they change my life more than I could begin to change theirs. I began as a TAP mentor teacher at Wilburn and saw first hand how TAP helps to grow not only our students, but our teachers as well. This year I am looking forward to extending my coaching abilities as I take on the role of Master Teacher.
In addition to teaching and coaching, I love running and working out. I have run several half marathons and find that time to be therapeutic and invigorating to the mind.
On a personal note, I just celebrated my first anniversary with my husband, Chris, and we just bought our first house together! I’m looking forward to making it a home and for the many memories to come.

Stacy Goode
Hello everyone! I am the TAP Master Teacher for grades 3, 4, and 5. I collaborate with our TAP Leadership team to run the TAP program at our school. This is my second year in this position. Before I became a Master Teacher I was a mentor teacher in the program for several years. I also taught 4th and 5th grade. Nothing excites me more then to see students engaged in learning and making big gains in growth. I believe in educating the whole child. Relationships and strong instruction are the keys to a successful classroom. I enjoy watching both students and teachers grow to their fullest potential. My Master’s Degree is in Curriculum, Instruction, and Supervision. I also have my National Boards and I am currently working towards becoming an Administrator. This is my tenth year in education and I am looking forward to many more!
