What is field testing and why do we do it? At Wilburn, we target skills that need to be worked on school-wide and then we field test in multiple classrooms to see what will work best for students at Wilburn. Field testing is the process of targeting an area of need and then finding a strategy or procedure that will help students in this area of need. We start the process by field testing a pre-test that will be given school wide in order to target the area of need even more. We look at this process like the doctor diagnosing a patient. A pre-test gives us the diagnosis and then allows us to move forward with the right "treatment." Currently we are pre-testing in Ms. West's kindergarten classroom, Ms. Foy's 2nd grade classroom, and Ms. Lundsgaard's 3rd grade classroom.
Ms. Curry is giving a writing prompt that also involves her reading aloud important information to students. They will have to write about the prompt using what they heard her read aloud. This pre-test will let us know where to go with our kindergarten students in the area of writing and reading. Keep coming back for updates on the process!
